(1) Deep Learning-Driven Development of HIF-1a isoform inhibitor
Summary
My research centers on developing peptide inhibitors through AI-driven approaches that target biologically significant protein pockets. By employing cutting-edge tools like RFdiffusion and ProteinMPNN, I generate and optimize peptide candidates designed to interfere with protein functions critical to disease progression. One such target is HIF-1α, a transcription factor that accelerates cancer development by stimulating angiogenesis, altering cellular metabolism, and enabling immune escape in hypoxic environments. Moreover, its role in inflammation—via activation of pro-inflammatory genes and modulation of immune responses—makes it a compelling therapeutic target. To address this, I focus on designing isoform-selective HIF-1α inhibitors that may serve as indirect therapeutic agents against cancer and inflammatory conditions. These designs undergo both computational validation and laboratory-based experimentation to assess their efficacy. Ultimately, I aim to advance therapeutic discovery by merging precision protein analysis with AI-based drug development strategies.
