Research Biography

My research career spans structural biology, proteomics, and computational approaches to protein science. Beginning with a B.S. in Genetic Engineering from Kyung-Hee University (2009), I pursued doctoral studies in Biomedical Sciences at Seoul National University (2009-2015), specializing in proteomics and bioinformatics with master's-level training in X-ray crystallography.

My postdoctoral phase (2015-2021) focused on structural proteomics and systems biology. I spent four years at Seoul National University's Proteomics & Biomarker Laboratory, followed by two years as a Postdoctoral Associate in John R. Yates III's laboratory at Scripps Research, where I gained expertise in advanced mass spectrometry and proteomics methodologies.

Since April 2021, I've served as Assistant/Associate Professor at Chungnam National University, specializing in protein design and protein analytics. My interdisciplinary appointments span the Department of Convergent Bioscience and Informatics, Bio-AI Convergence programs, and the Bio-AI Convergence Research Center. I served as Department Chair from 2023-2025. Notably, I maintain an active collaboration with the Yates lab at Scripps Research as a Professional Scientific Collaborator (2021-present).

My research trajectory reflects evolution from structural characterization through comprehensive proteomics analysis to contemporary protein design and AI-driven biotechnology applications, positioning me at the intersection of experimental proteomics and computational biology.
